Site Description
Open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the War Between the States Museum presents a varied collection of Civil War artifacts and weapons and displays with an emphasis on the history of the Civil War in the Pee Dee Region. It features displays on the nearby Mars Bluff Naval Yard, where the warship CSS Pee Dee was constructed, the Florence Stockade, a large local prison camp for captured Northern soldiers, more than 400 Civil War photographs, and an exhibit on Southern home life during the Civil War. Also featured, are numerous artifacts from several local collections, including relics recovered from area Civil War sites.
